We seem to perpetually ask Jesus for the very things He provided for us in the process of salvation. ‘Sozo’ (the Greek root word for salvation) is as follows:
Strong’s #4982: sozo (pronounced sode’-zo):
“From a primary sos (contraction for obsolete saos, “safe”); to save, i.e. deliver or protect (literally or figuratively):–heal, preserve, save (self), do well, be (make) whole.”
There’s an abundance of Kingdom reality in this one word alone, just waiting to move from the unseen into the seen.
To renew our minds to the astronomic ripple effects of ‘sozo’ will produce a transformation whereby we begin to understand we are already new creations who can live as new creations. The old has already gone and the new has already come—that is the reality of the power of Christ within us.
He is here right now. And so is everything He provided for us. The same spirit who raised Jesus from the dead indwells us. There is no separation. None. We no longer need any intermediaries. We can now move from the identity of ‘sinner saved by grace’ into ‘child of God.’ This is a massive paradigm shift.
Shifting the paradigm in (traditional) prayer then, from, “we ask you to protect ,” to “thank you that you protect, because You are his/her safe tower, refuge—Father,” are two very different thought strands. One is distanced and powerless and the other is connected into Jesus, fully aware of the ‘more than enough’ the great I Am has already provided, and how He is involved in the little things through to the eternal.
Words have power. Your mind and the minds of others, bend to meet the words you speak (you are transformed ‘by the renewing of your mind’). Are the words you speak reflective of your Heavenly Father whom you know personally, or are they reflective of a Father who is ‘out there somewhere’ who may or may not care?
The moment the revelation of the person of Jesus entered your world, it became a ‘Christ in me the hope of my glory’ seeding, where the riches of Him landed in your spirit and opened up the soil of your soul. This seeding made a way for an abundant Kingdom harvest to burst forth from within you. In essence, it moved us all from an inner wasteland to an inner oasis.
He is here. Through ‘sozo’, He has already provided everything for us. May our words begin to reflect these truths and may the gardens of our souls bloom as our minds invite the transformation. May there be sozo gardens blooming where dirt, struggle and distance once held power.
