The preaching of ‘revival’ seems to make a special reappearance many times in every generation, but what about ‘permanent inhabitation’?
To me, the concept of reviving someone who was initially drowned is not to constantly breathe into their lungs once they have ‘come to’: it is to see them rise up from the death state into life with breath permanently inhabiting their lungs. Alternatively, if someone always needs reviving, I’d be asking some serious questions like: “why do they keep dying?” “Why do they keep losing their breath?” “Why do they keep fainting?” “Can I help them?”
Revival is super important, but so too is what should come after that. A wedding is important, but so too is the entire MARRIAGE that comes after the initial ceremony.
If you have been revived (renewed, born again from above), His Spirit has raised you up from death (revived you) into life and His presence permanently indwells you.
Jesus doesn’t come and go: we do. We are the ones who fall asleep, come under the spells of other gospels or other lovers, and posture ourselves as orphans.
We house the Spirit of God (John 15). We have been adopted into His family. We are His light, His resurrected ones, His delights and great joy. He paid the ultimate price so that we could walk in the fullness of the revelation of His inhabitation along with our connection into our Heavenly Father. We don’t need to recreate what He has already done for us. We can walk in it right now.
