Unspoken

Cumbersome stumble in search for the word

To part from tight lip, sound out on breath

The final farewell to free love’s lost bird.

Sad feathered soul, struck silent in speech

The weight-wanton pause, an untimely rest

As though tide herself was tied to the beach

The undrawn wave leaves shingle song un-sung

Reluctant goodbye clings to cave’s cleft-lip

Left unspoken parting, tied-to-tongue
