In answer to your call,
The gathering anticipation,
The heavy breasted eager calls,
Weighted;
the Travellers lift to end their pause.
Dark-bellied upon Baltic-pink skies,
Through night and precipitation,
Their movement inks enduring tales,
Seen through the soul of visiting eyes.

Thank you! I started with the sadness of birds leaving but then moved by the idea of Visitors, pausing. Less of a wrench when they go as they are just passing through

A stunning response to Desanka Maksimovics’ Migratory Birds, Catherine! The ‘gathering anticipation’ and ‘heavy breasted eager calls’ are palpable, and I love the use of colour in the line ‘Dark-bellied upon Baltic-pink skies’.

My favourite image is, I think ‘Dark-bellied upon Baltic-pink skies’ for it’s beautiful visual effect and its concision; so many images contained in those few words.

You kept the mood of the original but created a fresh poem. I especially like: “Their movement inks enduring tales”…that captures the mysterious migration of geese for me!
